My Personal Nutrition Consult Process That Helps Clients Get Real Results

Nutrition by Bec

Ever thought about seeing a dietitian but worried you’d be judged, handed a generic meal plan, or told to “just eat less and move more”?

Most clients I work with come to me feeling overwhelmed, confused, and unsure what actually happens in a nutrition consult. Many have tried multiple diets, Googled endlessly, or followed conflicting advice online.

So let me walk you through exactly what happens when you book a consult with me, and why this process is designed to create real, lasting change.

Step 1: Booking Your Appointment

You can book your appointment directly through my website. I offer both online (telehealth) and in-person consultations (9 Altin Street Griffith NSW 2680), and they are exactly the same in terms of service, quality, and cost.

This means you can choose what works best for your schedule, location, and comfort.

Book via nutritionbybec.com.au.

Once you’re booked, you’ll receive a pre-consult screening form via email. This is an important step as it allows me to understand your health history and goals before we meet, so we can use our time together effectively.

Step 2: Your Initial Assessment

Your first consultation is not about judgement or perfection. It’s about getting to know you.

During this session, I take the time to explore:

  • Your health goals and what motivated you to book
  • Barriers that have made change difficult in the past and may in the future
  • Your medical history, medications, and supplements
  • Your current diet, lifestyle, stress levels, and activity

Research consistently shows that personalised nutrition support leads to better long-term outcomes than generic advice. That’s why I focus on the whole picture, not just what you eat, but why you eat the way you do.

Step 3: Creating Your Personal Nutrition Plan

There is no one-size-fits-all approach here.

Based on your assessment, I provide evidence-based, highly personalised advice that fits your  life and the pace of change you are ready for.

Your plan may include:

  • A tailored meal plan or flexible dietary framework

  • Education around portion sizes, food swaps, and meal timing

  • Strategies to build consistency and long-term habits

  • Support with mindful eating, stress management, and sleep (if relevant)

  • Tips for eating out, social occasions, and special events

  • Practical guidance aligned with your specific health goals

  • Help reading food labels and understanding nutrients

  • Supplement advice only when clinically appropriate

My role is to translate nutrition science into clear, practical steps you can actually follow.

Step 4: Follow-Ups & Ongoing Support (Where Change Really Happens)

Lasting change doesn’t happen in one session.

Most clients benefit from at least one follow-up appointment, where we:

  • Set realistic, measurable goals
  • Review what’s working (and what’s not)
  • Adjust your plan as your needs change
  • Build confidence and consistency over time

Follow-up sessions are shorter and lower in cost than the initial consult and are often the key to sustainable results.

Chronic Condition? You May Be Eligible for Rebates

If you have a chronic or lifelong condition, you may be eligible for a GP Chronic Care Management Plan, which can provide a Medicare rebate of $61.80 per session (gap fee applies) for up to 5 sessions per calendar year.

I’m also covered by all private health funds for clients with eligible extras cover.
